Sovereign Brass are thrilled that next month, our own Vicky Flint will perform the worldwide premiere of a brand new soprano cornet solo by our Associate Composer Fendall Hill, who himself will perform the Australian premiere in October with Brisbane Brass.
'Beksiński's Trumpeter,' which Fendall describes as 'Bond meets Danse Macabre meets Muse' is inspired by an untitled 1983 painting by Polish Surrealist artist Zdzisław Beksiński. With soaring sounds and a pulsing musical drive, it's a thrilling showcase for one of Sovereign's key soloists.
Vicky says:
I'm really honoured that Fendall was inspired to create such a superb piece of music inspired by one of my favourite painters of all time, and can't wait to perform this as part of a stunning collection of works by Fendall, in our upcoming entertainment contests this year. The audiences are going to love it. I hope I do it justice!
Vicky will be debuting 'Beksiński's Trumpeter' as part of Sovereign's Autumn 2024 entertainment programme. Visit our Band Diary to see where we'll be performing!
