Sovereign Brass

Founded in 1987, this Wednesbury based brass band quickly established a reputation for high quality performances both competitively and on the concert platform.  Success at the Midlands Championships over four consecutive years saw the band rise to Championship status by 1992.  The band celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2012. Sovereign Brass enjoy links with a variety of educational establishments and was delighted to be in residence at the University of Birmingham for the 2013/14 academic year.

With a strong community focus, the band performs regularly at prestigious venues across the region, introducing new audiences to its music. A combination of top quality musicianship, imaginative programming and fine soloists ensure Sovereign Brass continue to produce performances at the highest level. The band has performed at many of the UK's finest venues, including Symphony Hall (Birmingham), the Lowry Centre (Manchester) and The Royal Albert Hall (London).

Sovereign Brass has performed on Radio 5 Live and recorded sessions for BBC Radio 2's 'Listen to the Band'.  It also appeared in the BBC TV series 'Dangerfield' and has headlined at the BBC Midlands 'Mad About Music' festival.

As one of the regions leading contesting brass bands Sovereign Brass has achieved success at a number of major competitions. Titles include the inaugural French Open Champions, Midlands Area Champions (2005 and 2023) Harry Mortimer Memorial Champions of Great Britain (2008).

Sovereign Brass is available to perform at both Public and private events. In addition to the full 25 piece brass band there is also the option of booking the bands 10 piece ensemble should this be more appropriate for your needs. Please contact the Band Manager to discuss booking the band.
