After a short period of searching for the right player for our Principal Cornet seat, we are delighted to announce that Connor Edwards has been offered and has accepted the role with immediate effect.

Connor started playing cornet and sop with Bream Silver Band. He has also played front row cornet for Lydbrook, where he was part of the runner-up performance at the First Section National Finals (2024), and for AW Parker Drybrook.

Connor has played principal cornet at the Elgar International Brass Band Summer School for three years, and has helped out Sovereign as a guest at a number of concerts. He is a member of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain. He has recently passed his ARSM Diploma and is currently working towards his LRSM exam.

You can also hear Connor improvising on trumpet in a swing band that recently played at Cheltenham Jazz Festival, or as principal trumpet with Newport Symphony Orchestra.

Band Chairman Phil Green says:

We're really excited to appoint Connor to the Principal Cornet seat. He's someone we've had on our radar for a couple of years, and his involvement with the Elgar Summer School and National Youth Brass Band of GB can only be good for us as well as for Connor. When David Maplestone first heard Connor play he recognised the talent immediately and we acted quickly to sign him up. Exciting times ahead!

Welcome on board, Connor!
